Government, Health and Education

For many years this major international science body made several unsuccessful attempts, through different suppliers, to implement an end to end sub metering data management solution. In a final effort to achieve its goal, the organisation chose SBS, through a stringent selection process, to provide an energy and utility sub-metering solution for its Australia-wide facilities.

This complex, national multi-site, multi utility solution enables the client to gain individual, building level management and portfolio information from a single platform as required (and dependent on the end user’s authorisation). Providing detailed information for budgeting, forecasting, billing, energy efficiency management and consumer awareness across all the clients diverse campuses, business groups, retail and commercial interests.

This large-scale project was initiated through investigative audits, engaging local end users, contractors and service managers to best assess and understand the client’s issues and needs. Developing a transparent work schedule considering many complex site and client driven time constraints.

Through expert design and implementation and close engagement with the customer’s project management team, local facility managers and contractors, SBS continues to maintain and expand and enhance its multi-utility sub-metering solution across the client’s portfolio.


Hospitality and Airport

With a complex and ever-changing footprint, our client sought to smarten their existing metering network whilst preparing for new technology adoption as they expanded. Covering a vast area with complex safety and security issues and a broad tenancy including Retail, Hospitality, transport, logistics and essential services.

SBS undertook detailed auditing and assessment of the clients existing meters including detailed AutoCAD drawings of the site and asset life analysis.

The client undertook a detailed review process to identify current losses and shortcomings of the existing system to allow them to provide management with actual dollar losses in particular gaps where sub-leased spaces were not being metered or billed for the utility services they were using. Initially, the client had identified only 420 meters that were revenue related. The SBS Audit identified more than 700 revenue meters were required with substantial (multi-million dollar) losses being carried by the client. With the facts in hand, it was an easy argument to proceed with a full replacement program over a short period for the electricity and water meters.

High rise residential mutli-tower development

In the 18 months from initial design SBS delivered a full turn-key, funded hot water and sub-metering solution for one of Asia's largest developers. Supplying and servicing the needs of over 600 apartments across 3 towers SBS provided high efficiency hot water plant, hot water metering, chilled water metering for air-conditioning and electrical sub-metering.

Working closely with the developer and its building contractor teams, SBS developed a ground up solution to provide entire turn-key services for energy, water and chilled metering and hot water plant provision.

In addition to the metering, plant and communications supply and commissioning a fully funded meter and data service solution was provided. This permits the client to focus on their core objectives of building a high quality, energy efficient development without the need to fund any electrical or water sub-meters or hot water plant.

SBS provides the client long-term, fuss free end to end services for the entire sub-metering requirements, hot water provision and consumption data for billing and associated equipment maintenance. These metering and hot water services reduce upfront capital costs while providing building occupants with a reliable long term service and high quality billing and usage data from SBS Netstream.
